Solutions to Contacts Randomly Deleted from iPhone X/8/7/6/5s

Recently many people suffered from Contacts randomly deleted from iPhone. Some happened after updating iPhone to the latest iOS, some were said to be eaten by iPhone because of low storage. Whatever the reason may be, contact missing causes a great loss for iOS users. Hence this blog will show you several ways to recover deleted contacts on iPhone if backup available.

Note: If you have no backup availble, Gihosoft iPhone Data Recovery software can also be used to recover contacts from iPhone without backup, and it will detect contact information from iTunes backup that matches with the connected device.

Solution 1: Restore Lost Contacts from iCloud.com

With its advanced algorithm, iCloud offers a powerful backup service for iOS users especially after it released the new features of file restoring. If you’ve turn on Contacts in the iCloud settings before, then even you lost important contacts, you can restore contacts from iCloud.com easily.
  • Step 1: Check if you’ve turned on Contacts in Setting > Apple ID > iCloud on iPhone.
  • Step 2: Sign in iCloud.com, and go to Settings > Advanced.
  • Step 3: Click “Restore Contacts” shown in Advanced, and select the latest one to restore contacts on iPhone.

Note: If you’ve turned on “Contacts” in iCloud, it will automatically upload your contacts information to iCloud regularly. And this solution also can be used to restore calendars, reminders, and safari bookmarks on iPhone, not having to restore the whole device.

Solution 2: Recover Deleted Contacts from iCloud Backup

If it shows “No Archive Available” when you click on “Restore Contacts” in iCloud.com, you can still rely on iCloud if you sync your iPhone with it every once a while. Go Setting > Apple ID > iCloud > iCloud Backup to check on the date of last backup, and follow these steps to extract contacts with Gihosoft iPhone Data Recovery.
  • Step 1: Install Gihosoft iPhone Contact Recovery on computer and select “Contacts”.
  • Step 2: Click Next and View iCloud Backup, and sign in with Apple ID.
  • Step 3: Select a backup to scan and preview the scanning result.
  • Step 4: Recover deleted contacts to computer as readable formats like vCard.

Also, if you are certain about the backup, you can restore iPhone from iCloud directly, but note that your iPhone will be wiped out and revert to the version of the backup during device restoring.

Solution 3: Recover Lost Contacts from iTunes Backup

Sometimes it is annoying that you have to reset iPhone in order to retrieve some lost data because of iTunes’ encrypted structure. Here Gihosoft leads you to a new way to extract backup from iTunes, and you just need to follow onscreen prompts to recover deleted contacts on iPhone.
  • Step 1: Run iPhone Contact Recovery and tick on “Contacts”.
  • Step 2: Click “View iTunes Backup” and select one to scan.
  • Step 3: Preview and recover lost contacts from iPhone.

If you’re very sure about the last backup, you also can directly restore iPhone from iTunes.
